Sharing lives with Filipina Home-based Moms

Sharing lives with Filipina Home-based Moms
By : Omni A. Larrosa

A lot of you know me as a passionate working mom. However, I am also very open about how I dream of working in my own home office someday where I can just peak from the door and see what my kids are doing from time to time. Bryce and I strongly believe that someday, we can just enjoy the company of our kids and travel the world without worrying about everyday expenses. So while waiting for that to happen, we try to immerse ourselves to communities who inspire people that working from home is indeed possible and even go out of their ways to share best practices to those who are already working from home, or planning to do so - like FILIPINA HOME-BASED MOMS (FHMoms)

Recently, I got invited by my friend Ruth Ramos to join FHMoms, a group of moms who do several types of home-based jobs. I got inspired with the way Maria Korina Cope-Bertulfo, or simply Mommy MK, the founder of the group, shares techniques on how one can be a happy and effective WAHM.

Mommy MK Cope-Bertulfo shares some powerful tips to existing and would-be WAHMs.

She is so generous to share legit home-based job sites with available job openings, tips on how one can get hired for several types of jobs and even how one can negotiate for a good salary. I haven't seen any other group like it. There is a genuine interest in uplifting people who get connected with the group.

So when I got invited to the first meet-up, I responded very positively by confirming my attendance. For me, it is a privilege to meet and learn from such passionate moms within the group. And when I finally got to meet them last May 12 at Mom and Tina's Pasig, I realized, it was a good decision to join the event. Below are some of the highlights and also my favorite parts of the meet-up:

Sharing the table with my friend Mommy Ruth and her super cute baby River. We always have a blast whenever we meet in mom events.
Momi Berlin and her young cutie patootie.

It is also a delight to see familiar people or friends like our co-tapluencers Madz and Berlin, two of this country's great mom bloggers.
Mommy Madz with her bundle of joy.

But of course, nothing beats meeting new people, like Mommy Tin in the photo below.

Adie Villegas, Brand Manager of Pampers Baby Dry demonstrates how Pampers can easily absorb liquid and keep our babies' bumbum dry for up to 12 hours.

We also learned new mom hacks from the speakers they invite to share insights. One talk that really got my attention is "Making Healthy Meals for Babies" as shared by Mommy Bem.

Thanks to the generosity of Pampers Baby Dry Team for making this event possible. I am a happy user of their product and I sincerely recommend fellow moms to #ChoosePampers.

How to shop without overspending? | What we got from Baby Company's #CrazyBabySale Omni A. Larrosa - #TheClingyFam When you become a parent, one of the things that excite you the most is being able to catch great deals for baby products. Since we are no longer first time parents, there are plenty of lessons we have already learned and applied in order to make sure that we shop right. Of course, buying things on SALE is the best way to go but getting something on sale should not be the only goal. We  gotta make sure we maximize the SALE offerings by buying ONLY what we need at a price lower than what we used to spend.  Here are some of the things we apply in making sure we get the most out of shopping-at-SALE-prices: Research in Advance. Check out participating merchants. In this day and age, SALE offerings are usually announced via Instagram or Facebook so we can all be given a heads up on which brands are participating and what... BABYZEN YOYO+ Stroller - Detailed Review and Scorecard on its Features and Benefits

BABYZEN YOYO+ Stroller - Detailed Review and Scorecard on its Features and Benefits #TheClingyFam A few months back, we almost lost Zela, our 3-year-old daughter in Bonifacio Highstreet while she was playing. It took 20 minutes before we were able to find her, and that has been the longest 20 minutes of our life and for me, life's biggest lesson. I cannot afford to lose any of our children again even for a second. So immediately, I started finding ways ( like acquiring child-tracking devices)  to make sure we will be more on-guard whenever we are outdoors. A friend of ours recommended that we carry a stroller all the time so that we can prevent Zela from going around when we are attending to her brother Zed (6mos old) or big sister Zia (5). Problem is, our current stroller is too bulky and carrying it sometimes becomes an inconvenience. We have seen the Baby Zen Yoyo+ stroller in some of Iya Villania's IG posts before and got excited about it. Imagine, it is one of the mos...

Preparing for Baby Zed’s first solid food plus Baby Company Haul

Preparing for Baby Zed’s first solid food plus Baby Company Haul Omni A. Larrosa - JULY 9, 2018 One of a parent’s most exciting moments is feeding solids to his baby for the first time. I can still remember how Zia reacted on her first taste of mashed papaya over 5 years ago, in the same way, I still can recall Zela giggling when she first tasted mashed potato 3 years ago. Thank God for technology that allowed me to record these moments on photo and video and some of these are even posted on my IG account : @omniamisolarrosa . In a few days, our third child, Zed will be turning 6 months old and once again, Bryce and I are very, very, very excited to witness it and capture it on the vlog! Can’t wait to see and share our baby’s expression as he gets introduced to his first solid food. So as we wait for this moment, we made a rundown of items that we believe are necessary in feeding solids to our baby... READ MORE
